Maryhill’s old bingo hall has a rather nice piece of railway archaeology behind it. The club stood at 30 Craigmont Drive, built beside the old Maryhill Central railway line and cutting, positioned so as not to obstruct what was then still considered a possible future reopening of the route, with the remains of the old railway tunnel beneath the Forth & Clyde Canal still visible behind the building. This wasn’t a converted cinema, but a purpose-built bingo hall, established by at least the early 1990s and connected corporately to Buzz County Clubs Limited, later Gala County Clubs, part of the older Scottish County bingo lineage rather than evidence of any modern Buzz Bingo branding at the site.

By the time reliable public records pick it up, the club was firmly established as Gala Bingo Maryhill, well known enough locally to make a brief television appearance, with its exterior used in an episode of Still Game featuring Winston and Isa. Unlike so many of the clubs on this list, Maryhill closed before the nationwide Gala to Buzz rebrand of 2018, meaning it never traded publicly under the modern Buzz Bingo name, an important correction worth making since the club is easy to mistake for a Buzz venue given the corporate paperwork trail. An exact closure date isn’t firmly established, but the building survives today, converted into JD Gyms Glasgow North, still occupying the same Craigmont Drive site and retaining much of its original scale and on-site parking, a fitness venue now standing where bingo players once sat beside the ghost of a Glasgow railway.
