The Return Of The Bingo Caller Of The Year

Feels like a lifetime ago that we were last covering the Bingo Caller Of They Year, when Blake Robson took the crown from our very own columnist Brett Hyrjak back in 2007. That was 12 years ago, and while there have been some poorly publicised chain only competitions in the intervening decade and a bit, there’s not been the main National Bingo Game one.

But it’s back, on Sunday the 24th of November, at the Birmingham Great Park Buzz Bingo, the 2019 final will take place. As in previous years, 6 regional winners are competing to be the best, judged by a specialised panel. Those finalists are:

  • Jason Davies – Mecca Bingo, Wrexham
  • Michael Farley – Beacon Bingo, Cricklewood
  • Rhys Evans – Castle Bingo, Merthyr Tydfil
  • Christopher Graham – Carlton Bingo, Stirling
  • Donna Kunyo – Club 3000 Bingo, Middleton
  • Bob Manwaring – Buzz Bingo, Middlesbrough

Part of the judging revolves around skills that would rarely be used within the realms of a normal night’s bingo calling, being a display of showmanship skills. As well as their entertainment value, the callers are judged on knowledge of the game, and the professional manner of their calling. All in all, winning the caller of the year can be a life-changing event for the winner, as previous winners will attest.

You can take a look at the last competition (back in 2007) with the below video, and we look forward to seeing who will be crowned the new Bingo Caller Of The Year 2019. Good luck all!
