In my role as a bingo journalist and site owner I get to attend many different events throughout the year and on Tuesday evening it was the turn of the Which Bingo Awards 2015. None other than Mr Winner himself, Sanderson Jones, hosted the event and a great time was had by all.
The venue for the Which Bingo Awards 2015 was HMS President, moored on Victoria Embankment and once my husband and I had gotten our sea legs it was time to start with the complimentary champagne and nibbles. A member of the Which Bingo team greeted everyone and all had their photo taken before mingling with their peers from the industry.
We were then seated for the actual awards ceremony, the part hosted by Sanderson Jones himself. He introduced himself but seemed to spend an awful lot of time reminding us that he was the star of the Winner Bingo commercial, like they employed him rather than Which Bingo for the event.
That said, at one point in the evening we were literally falling about laughing as Sanderson Jones told the audience how he is the only man in the world who has been officially declared as unsexy by an official government body! He was referring to the ruling by the ASA (read full story here).
It was then on to the awards and the movers and shakers this year from the Which Bingo Awards were:
- Best Unique Bingo Software – Gamesys
- Best Unique Bingo Game – Gala Bingo
- Best Online Bingo Promotion – Jackpot Joy
- Best Online TV Advert – Foxy Bingo
- Best Boutique Online Bingo Site – Lucky Rainbow Bingo
- Most Socially Responsible Bingo Site – Mecca Bingo
- Best Mobile Bingo Experience – Gala Bingo
- Best Online Bingo Chat Team – Jackpot Joy
- Best New Online Bingo Site – Betway Bingo
- Best Online Bingo Site – Jackpot Joy
Whilst I personally don’t agree with 90% of the winners shown above, I’ll not be going into details or slating the awards because I had a great time at the event and for me – the actual awards were secondary to the chance to catch up with my peers, drink and be merry.
Incidentally, Tidy Bingo came 10th out of 10 in the Best Boutique Online Bingo Site and whilst we’d love to have finished above some of the contenders in this category (namely Bucky Bingo and Love Your Bingo), we were just happy to have been short listed for the award.
