Mecca Bingo Paisley, on Saucel Crescent, is a large, purpose-built club rather than a converted cinema or theatre, and it’s worth keeping separate from Paisley’s older Mecca history on High Street, which occupied the former Picture House and closed back in the 1980s. Saucel Crescent sits just outside the town centre beside Saucelhill Park and the White Cart Water, with its own substantial car park and good access from Paisley’s railway stations and bus network. It’s a genuinely serious bingo operation, with an official licensed capacity of 1,032 confirmed by Renfrewshire Licensing Board, alongside around 150 Mecca Max electronic terminals. The club has been operating at this address since at least 2009, though an exact opening date hasn’t been established.
Inside, it offers traditional 90-ball bingo alongside electronic bingo, gaming machines, two bars, a café and cash machines, clearly designed as a full night out rather than just somewhere to play a few games. It runs morning, afternoon and evening sessions, staying open later at weekends, and continues to offer the usual mix of promotional games, competitions and jackpot sessions. Unlike so many Mecca clubs lost during the pandemic-era closures, Saucel Crescent survived and remains open and trading today. The freehold itself was sold in October 2022 for £2.547 million, with Mecca continuing as tenant, meaning the building has become a property investment in its own right while carrying on doing exactly what it was built for: a large, modern, still-thriving Scottish bingo hall.
