The club is situated in what was once a cinema, the ‘Regal’, which opened in 1938 with seating for almost 1500 patrons. By all accounts it was quite a grand building, with a lot of ornate plaster work, and a 43-foot stage depth. There was a ballroom, and 4 dressing rooms, so this was obviously one of the better entertainment venues of the day.
In 1969, it was bought by Star Cinemas who split the building; bingo downstairs, and cinema upstairs. The cinema doesn’t exist any more, and sometime in between the seventies and now Gala took over, and opened up the whole auditorium for bingo.
It was announced that this club would close on the 15th of July 2020, one of 26 Buzz Bingo clubs which were victims of the prolonged lock-down of 2020 to combat the spread of Covid 19. However, this was not the end for the club with it re-opening in 2021 as an independent club, Regal Bingo Bridlington.

Other Clubs In The Area
Provided exclusively for Playing Bingo by the artist duo Henry/Bragg who photographed several UK bingo halls as part of their B.I.N.G.O project, this is a fantastic collection which shows the remarkable craftsmanship employed in the creating the original cinema’s decor. Obviously well maintained, the vibrant colours have been captured beautifully. The exterior is still in good condition, and some of the shots show the full scale of the club. As usual, some of the best photos are of the players themselves, and the caller and the caller caught mid session.
These photos were taken 23rd August 2014, prior to the Buzz Bingo rebrand, closure and relaunch as Regal Bingo.
