Each and every year WhichBingo host an awards ceremony that sees a number of brands take home a coveted award from this well-known portal. Every year we are often left scratching our heads over the winners list and wondering how? Why? WHAT? and this year more than most in one category.
Before I continue I want to first thank the team at WhichBingo for laying on a superb event. It was held at Madame Tussauds and was brilliant from start to finish. The red carpet was rolled out at arrival and continued throughout the evening with tasty nibbles, free drinks and of course, plenty of photo opportunities with a number of stars, albeit that they were made of wax.
On arrival, we even got to take the Spirit Of London ride before making our way to the actual reception for Which Bingo. It was a fantastic night and I don’t want to detract from that with the mini-rant that is set to ensue.
Best New Online Bingo Site 2016 At WhichBingo
To be fair, this year there was only one massive shock in the winner’s list and that was the Best New Online Bingo Site winner, Bingo With Kerry.
It all seemed like a massive PR thing although I’d not noticed Kerry Katona in the building at any point. I was only aware of her presence when she swanned on stage to collect the award, the first of the night. At my table alone there were many stunned and perplexed looks when the winner was announced!
The reason for my shock at her gaining the title is that, in my opinion, there were brands that were more deserving of it. Bingo With Kerry is just your run of the mill Virtue Fusion / Playtech site that brings nothing new to the table other than it is fronted by a celebrity. There’s nothing else that is ‘special’ or different about the gameplay or overall gaming experience.
However, I have to accept that the WhichBingo Awards are decided by votes and with quite a fan base, it was always going to be that even her fans that don’t play bingo were likely to have a say in her winning by casting votes.
WhichBingo Awards – A Personal Experience
For me personally, the WhichBingo Awards have always been a time to ‘mingle’ with my peers in the industry, and since launching Tidy Bingo, have my fingers crossed that maybe this year we’ll take a piece of glassware home. Incidentally, Tidy Bingo didn’t win the best Jumpman Gaming site, this went to Rocket Bingo, a worthy winner in my opinion.
This year, despite the perfect venue, exquisite food and literally star-studded night, it all seem tainted by what appeared to be a PR stunt.
Earlier in the year we were shocked to find that Tombola had not put themselves forward for any of the categories in the awards. Had they, then the winner’s list may have looked very different.

Update And Quote From Phil Fraser Of WhichBingo
Having had a conversation with Phil Fraser of WhichBingo, it would appear my perception of the Bingo With Kerry win was a little off. I’d suspected that the announcement of the win for her brand at the start of the event was a PR stunt, but when you look down the winner’s list, and have the obvious pointed out by those in the know, it was a little Playtech heavy.
Mr. Fraser said:
Due to the wide-ranging successes of Playtech brands, we arranged the order of the awards announcements to try to avoid consecutive appearances of their brands, allowing other winners as much time in the limelight as Playtech brands.
