When it comes to well-known bingo brands, Sun Bingo is up there with some of the biggest names in the industry. Whilst the site originally launched on the tombola software, August 2008 saw the brand move to the ‘proprietary’ Gamesys software. It would seem that on the eighth anniversary of the original move, Sun Bingo are migrating again.
It’s been reported that Virtue Fusion, the bingo division of Playtech, have signed a deal with News UK, the owners of Sun Bingo and Fabulous Bingo, to provide their software. The deal was announced yesterday and the migration is set to happen in August 2016.
Speaking about the deal, Playtech are reported to have said that it is in line with the companies strategy to provide all of the world’s major operators with market leading software.
Mor Weizer, the Playtech chief executive, goes on to say that a Playtech-powered Sun Bingo will use cutting-edge technology.
It will offer the best performing and highly innovative bingo and side games, with some of the best promotions and prizes as well as the industry’s largest jackpots.
Our Opinion Of The Sun Bingo Move
There are only a handful of brands online today that use the Gamesys software to power their brands, Sun Bingo being one of them.
In comparison, there are many, many more that have opted to launch on the Virtue Fusion / Playtech pattern.
A migration to Virtue Fusion is a mistake in our opinion and whilst we’re sure that they will manage to maintain quite a number of their original players, will the FTD’s for the new Sun Bingo suggest that our opinion is right?
Whilst we have seen some interesting new features on the new look Virtue Fusion / Playtech software, and second to tombola, it’s probably the best bingo software available online today – the number of brands using it would suggest it’s getting a bit ‘samey’.
Does Sun Bingo have the clout to compete with the likes of Mecca Bingo and Gala Bingo on the same platform? Only time will tell.
