The name Chelbis might not mean a lot to the average bingo player, but there’s a good chance you’ll have played at a site using this software supplier. Chelbis is the brand that provides the software for a multitude of sites across several bingo networks. News today is that Canadian software supplier Contagious Gaming has entered into agreement to acquire Chelbis for over CAN$4 million.
Chelbis sites have been going through many changes recently, and all are UK compliant, and fairly popular. While sites such as Harrys Bingo, Gone Bingo and others aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, they do have a good customer base, mainly fuelled by their big bonus offers and free cash.
Although the sale hasn’t yet gone through, and isn’t finalised, it isn’t thought that there will be any problems, and we expect to bring you further news of this soon. What this will mean for bingo players is unknown, brands under the Chelbis name may see more changes, especially as Contagious Gaming is a software supplier too and may want to develop the brand and the software further (goodness known it needs it).
The Chelbis brand was developed in 2007 and is licensed in Malta. Although Chelbis developed the software, they also hold 14 brands in ownership and these too will go through in the sale. These brands operate under the Best Bingo Network, Super Bingo Network and Fun Bingo Network and if you play at any sites within the networks, something exciting might be coming.
Contagious Gaming certainly seem excited about the acquisition, Peter Glancy the CEO gave a positive statement on the takeover, and is looking forward to taking the Chelbis brands further. As a fast emerging brand this takeover is likely to make the company a known name.
Chelbis has turned over almost £2 billion since its inception, which makes the CAN$4 million seem a snip!
