Halifax Mecca Bingo is the second club in the chain (that we know of) to launch a Christmas gift tree, the first one being Dudley Mecca Bingo. The idea is the same, patrons of the club take a gift tag from the club’s Christmas tree, and go off shopping, then return the present with the tag.
The presents for children should be returned to the club by December the 20th, so that they can be delivered to Calderdale Hospital to be given out to children on the morning of Christmas Day. Even if you are not a bingo hall regular, but you do live in Halifax, it might be a good idea to pop along and sort out a present yourself, and maybe stay for a game of bingo.
We’re not sure if this is a chain wide initiative, or whether it came from the management at Mecca Bingo in Halifax, but wherever the idea comes from, it’s a good one. We do hope that plenty of presents are bought for the children at the hospital, as it is a bit unfair for a child to spend Xmas on a ward, but hopefully a present will bring a smile.
With the good news of a potential tax cut coming for bingo halls across the UK, the past week the news from the industry has all been good, but we’re always more than pleased in particular when we get to write about charity events. Well done Mecca Halifax, keep up the good work!
