Virgin Bingo has been around for quite some time and since launch the brand has gone through several changes. Owned wholly by Richard Branson and rebranded to Virgin Games, it offers the whole gaming experience from one platform with bingo, side games and an online casino all rolled into one. However, now we hear that the brand will be going through yet another change with a buy out from Gamesys.
Gamesys are one of the market leaders in online bingo, especially recently with the development of a Facebook app and more mobile options, taking the brand to the next generation of bingo players. No numbers have been announced with regard to the sale, but it’s thought that the value of Virgin Bingo is quite considerable indeed.
The deal comes along with a long-term plan to develop real money propositions for social media and mobile. From a player’s perspective, that means we are likely to see a social networking bingo boom very soon.
Gamesys already run the Bingo Friendzy app on Facebook, and that’s growing in popularity daily, as it was the first paid bingo app on the social media platform. They are also responsible for big brands like Jackpot Joy and Sun Bingo with Fabulous, Caesars and Heart Bingo also using the software provided by Gamesys.
For now, expect a relaunch and rebrand of Virgin Bingo later this year, and then we can only suggest that you, like us, watch this space and see what new and exciting developments are going to come from this deal between Virgin Games and market leader Gamesys.
It has long been speculated about that we were to see many online bingo operators merging due to the saturation in the market, could it be this is just the start?
