Local News – Press Cuttings

Local press publications usually take pride in representing the local perspective on events. They focus on how changes affect real people at the grass roots level. Although general news is slowly going online, local hard copy publications are as healthy as ever, because people like to hear about what is going on immediately around them, and this makes papers sell.

When bingo news hits the papers it is always important, as bingo halls have always been a source of community, and more important to some, jobs. When a hall closes it can have quite an effect on the local community, and very often the press is a medium for local people to express their sense of loss.

The cuttings below were sent to us from personal collections by enthusiasts with a generous spirit who wanted to share what they have collected over the years. If you any cuttings you’d like to send us then please Contact Us.
