We are not sure about this club, and we think its history as a bingo venue was a brief one, bingo being tried out on Saturday evenings during the sixties. Originally the premises were a gym, which was converted into a cinema. Rebuilt as a theatre in 1922, which then operated as a cinema post 1931, the premises were converted into a church and have since been demolished.

  1. The reason for the name ‘Winter Gardens’ is because it was a cinema. I remember I used to go there in the early 60’s. They used to show horror films on a Saturday afternoon matinee.
