Date of closure: August 1st 2018
Address (for reference only):
Gala Bingo (Lost Halls)
Derrys Cross
Plymouth
PL1 2SW
The club officially closed on the 1st of August 2018, following the expiration of the buildings lease (read more). This was following a maintenance closure in January 2018 caused by a major rain leak in the building (read more). The site will be most likely be demolished and redeveloped, with the company that owns the building planning to tear it down, although at the time of writing there has been no formal planning application to do so. With the Reel Cinema at the location set to close in the near future and talk of a ‘vertical village’ replacing it, the future for the Royal Cinema building now looks less than promising.

On the whole the club is very good. I’ve just got a problem with a few players that attend the free bingo sessions, they are always rowdy, not having consideration for others when they are playing on the b boards. I have lost loads of money on the b boards due to not being able to hear the numbers and a member of staff said “Have you considered moving seats?”, “Um no, why should I have to move because of them i sit here so i can see the screen and try to hear the numbers”. The best manager is DAVE HAMMOND, he seems to tell them to have consideration.
