Date of closure: 03/01/2018
Address (for reference only):
Gala Bingo
Marischal Street
Peterhead
AB42 1PR
The building originally came to life as a cinema, The Regal Theatre, which opened its doors for business in 1939. It closed as a cinema in 1960 and re-opened as a Bingo Hall in 1961. We’re uncertain at which point it became a Gala Club. It would seem a down-turn in business was the main reason behind the closure of the club which at the time it shut its doors employed 13 members of staff. At present there is no news of what will happen to the building, or the staff at the club though Gala has said it will try to continue to employ its staff in Peterhead. You can read more about the closure of The Regal here.
