Address (for reference only):
Mecca Bingo
Derby Street
Manchester
We have very few details about this club, although we do know that it existed in what was once the Manchester Ice Palace. We also know that it may have also been the Golden Strike, or possibly Lucky Strike Bingo Club, and was opened around 1969 after the Ice Palace had closed down. We have been informed by David Benjamin that its manager was a gentleman called Alan R. Brewer and the caller was a Mr. Peter Sinclair. He also notes that the club didn’t last very long, and that the prizes were very small (maybe those two facts are connected!). Other than that we are in the dark, and would love to get hold of some more information regarding the club.
If you have any further details that may assist us, and you would like to share them with our readers, we would love to hear from you. If you let us know what you know, we will put the details online with your name credited (if you wish, or we can credit the article as anonymous). You will be doing a service to the bingo community and posterity by helping us record details of all Britain’s bingo clubs and halls. Thank you.
