Luton Gala Bingo – Bridge Street

This Club Is Closed Or Demolished

Date of closure: 22nd March 2008

Address (for reference only):

Gala Bingo
Bridge Street
Luton
LU1 2NB

The Luton Gala Club was located in the Galaxy Entertainment Complex, and it apparently saw falling numbers before the smoking ban ensued, which probably further compounded the problems the club was experiencing. One explanation is that the club’s location within the complex meant that it had poor ability to attract passing trade. Attendees at the complex may also have been of the wrong ‘age group’ as well, and were not predisposed to playing bingo due to incorrect assumptions about what ‘type of person’ plays bingo. Anyone who plays bingo in a club knows that the game is very exciting to people of all ages, it’s just a shame that the opportunity to observe this no longer exists in Luton.
