Independent Club
Fulhurst Avenue

We’re not too sure what happened to Roxy Bingo, but we do know a little about the venue’s past. It was originally opened as the Roxy Cinema in 1936, with seating for 1,800, and it had circles and stalls. It was converted into a bingo club after its closure in 1969. Since then, it has been known both as Roxy Bingo, and Top Rank Bingo. In 2002 the building was gutted by a fire, as strangely happens to many closed clubs.

If you have any further information about the club’s history, and the events that lead up to the closure, please contact us, we’d love to hear from you.

  1. I worked here whilst I was at University in Leicester. I Did a year here working part time, had lots of fun and met some lovely people…

  2. I was there for the saturday matinees around about 1962. I can’t remember any of the films I saw but what happy memories it brings if not childhood.
