At the moment we do not have details of the events that led up to, or any of the circumstances surrounding the closure of the Carlton Bingo Grangemouth. If you have any details that may assist us, and you would like to share them with our readers, we would love to hear from you.
We do know that the club originally opened as as the Electric Empire Cinema on 13th December 1913. It was also called the La Scala, which was converted into a bingo hall circa 1971. We are not sure of the exact reasons for the club’s closure, but the smoking ban has been cited as one reason, and is a likely candidate, as the smoking ban seems to have hit Scottish clubs worse than the rest of the country.
