Date of closure: Circa 1996
Address (for reference only):
Top Rank Bingo
At the moment we do not have details of the events that led up to, or any of the circumstances surrounding the closure of the Top Rank Bingo Dudley, but we do know a bit about about the venue’s history.
The venue originally opened in 1928 as the Regent Theatre, although it was equipped for cinema as well as live performances. Gaumont took over a year later, and later changed the name to Gaumont in 1950.
The cinema closed in 1961, and was almost immediately reopened as Top Rank Bingo which continued to trade until around 1996. The premises remain, and are now the site of a conference centre, which apparently retains much of the original decor.
If you have any further details that may assist us, and you would like to share them with our readers, we would love to hear from you. If you let us know what you know, we will put the details online with your name credited (if you wish, or we can credit the article as anonymous). You will be doing a service to the bingo community and posterity by helping us record details of all Britain’s bingo clubs and halls. Thank you.
