At the moment we do not have details of the events that led up to, or any of the circumstances surrounding the closure of the Rio Bingo Dover. All we have is a little bit of history; it was originally a cinema known as the Plaza, and the Essoldo, and is now a Wetherspoon’s public house. If you have any details that may assist us, and you would like to share them with our readers, we would love to hear from you. The wetherspoons pub closed in this former cinema/bingo hall, and has since been altered to retail usage, retaining the facade only.

Wetherspoons are still there. It is called “The Eight Bells”.
And they are, as of March 2023, putting in a planning application to demolish the disused cinema auditorium at the rear and convert it to extra seating and an outside drinking area.
