Cricklewood has one major boast, and it is that it is Britain’s largest bingo club. It shares the following ownership trail, Beacon Bingo to Merkur Bingo to Buzz Bingo, and was never part of the traditional Gala lineage that most Buzz clubs came from. It was developed as Beacon Bingo’s flagship, a purpose-built venue on Cricklewood Broadway sitting on ground with genuine entertainment heritage of its own, having grown up around the site once occupied by the famous Galtymore Ballroom, a major Irish dance hall that closed in 1987 and was later demolished. Beacon’s owner, Praesepe, became part of the German Gauselmann/Merkur group in 2012, and by 2021 the club had been rebranded Merkur Bingo, with Barnet licensing documents from that year explicitly describing it as the largest bingo venue in Europe.
Buzz announced in May 2024 that it was in advanced discussions to acquire both the Cricklewood and Northampton Merkur clubs, describing Cricklewood specifically as the UK’s largest bingo venue and a club that had anchored its community for more than 25 years. The acquisition completed in July 2024, with the rebrand celebrated that September, complete with a laser light show and a performance from Gareth Gates. Today the club operates 24 hours a day, offering a main stage, cash and electronic bingo, a large slots area, Alma’s Bar, a bistro, a “Gaming Garden” and regular major prize events, a world away from the traditional two-sessions-a-day model. In 2025 it hosted a £105,000 payout that Buzz says set a Guinness World Record for the largest single bingo game prize. Cricklewood stands as a clear example of Buzz actively investing in and expanding its estate through acquisition rather than simply rebranding what it already owned, a genuine flagship club that has never come close to closure through three separate ownership regimes.

It’s the biggest and best bingo in London and probably the UK. It can hold up to 2700 members. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the prize money is fantastic. Last Sunday of the month is 4 x £10,000 houses and 13 x £1,000 and all for just £4 a book.
I was not very happy with the situation on that last friday night Bingo. I swiped my membership card and then I had to queue up for the machine for about 20 mins and then told just before the mainline bingo started there is no Bingo machine left. I was with other two friends and we stormed out feeling upset and mad. It’s supposed to be an enjoyable playing experience, but there were too many people and it was a madhouse. Wasted my journey from Kent!

I live here at Royal Army Chelsea Hospital, for retired army war veteran solider’s. I have been on lock down sense l last March i am missing my Bingo in Cricklewood in London Yours Kindly Trevor.
