Near enough 4 months after it was first launched, the National Bingo Game’s million pound Big ‘N’ Prize has finally been won. Congratulations go out to Christine Bradfield from Bargoed at the Merthyr Tydfil Castle Bingo club who won herself her a massive £1.1 million prize. If you hadn’t noticed it already, The Big ‘N’ is no more, although technically the money won last night has been rolled over from the game.
I played the Big ‘N’ last weekend not realising it was for the last time. I was aware that the game was due to be revamped by the National Bingo, but I didn’t realise it had happened last week. The new game which was won by Christine is now simply like The National Bingo Game. Gone are the confusing rules that I know personally put a lot of regular players off the game. According to the Bingo Association it was also a big miss with the staff and managers as well.
Back now is the old style system of national and regional prizes but with an added prize pot – the platinum jackpot. The National Game has taken a leaf out of Gala and Mecca’s book in its mechanics for delivering the big jackpot. If you win the National Game now on the number 90, then you win the big jackpot as well. If the prize is not won during the month, the last Sunday of the month sees a play-off for the platinum prize jackpot. Who ever wins the National Prize then also gets the accumulated jackpot. And that’s how Christine took the big pot that had never been won whilst under the Big ‘N’ game. A shame really, given the publicity that Mecca had creating its millionaires way back in September and Gala following not long behind with its first High 5 winners.
