Gala Pass On The Glasgow Lyceum

Nine months after buying rival operators County Bingo, and the historic Lyceum Cinema building in Glasgow, Gala have decided to call it quits and sell-up. The cost of refurbishing the grade-b listed building proved to be too much – so Gala will close the club and sell it on. Staff and customers will be transported to the Pollok club instead.

It’s always a shame to see these old cinemas go – as Bingo halls they often retain a lot of the cinema feel and decor. I guess the next stage of the place’s life will be as a trendy drinking den – many old cinemas go that way unfortunately.
