Although we don’t know much about Flutters Bingo Coalville, apart from its session times, we do know a bit about the venue’s past. It originally opened in 1910 as the Olympia, a skating rink which also staged live performances. In 1933 it became the Regal which was the result of a rebuild of the old Olympia. The theatre was mainly used by local dramatic groups but had the facilities for visiting actors including dressing rooms. It closed in 1960, and although we know it was taken over for bingo, we are not exactly sure when this happened, or whether current owners Flutters are the only company to have operated bingo in the theatre.

Michael Hess: Flutters Bingo, Coalville
Taken as a part of the Playing Bingo commission of Michael Hess to shoot a follow-up to his book, Bingo and Social Club. Find out more about the project here.
Taken on the 23rd of April 2013, the two photographs of Flutters Bingo in Coalville show the interior of the club out of session time. Originally the Regal theatre, much of the interior decor remains intact, although we can’t tell if the carpet is new. The lighting also appears to be, original lighting usually being the first victim when it comes to a change of use from theatre to bingo hall, although at lease the ceiling hasn’t been dropped and strip lighting added which is sometimes the case.
Henry/Bragg Photos For Playing Bingo
Provided exclusively for Playing Bingo by the artist duo Henry/Bragg who photographed several UK bingo halls as part of their B.I.N.G.O project, this set of images is a good collection which covers many aspects of the club. We have the physical building, exterior and interior. The exterior shots show that unmissable pink signage which must be quite a landmark in Coalville. Interior shots show good details of the Art Deco design that runs throughout the venue. It’s also good to see the players themselves, and the caller in action at a session.
These photos were shot on the 12th April 2014, whilst the club was still under the ownership of Flutters Bingo.

Im from Loughborough, and have until recently used beacon bingo,but now its closed,can you tell me if flutters does a bus service from Loughborough to flutters bingo hall,quite a few people have shown an interest in moving to flutters,but cant get to coalville from loughborough
Hi Patricia, you’ll need to give the club a call to share your interest with them, it might spur them into action! We can’t help with that here I’m afraid as we’re not related to the club at all, we just feature their details.
The 16 and 126 bus route takes you from Loughborough straight to Coalville and back. The only draw back is that it does not run on Sunday evening. Hope this helps. :)
i’d like to terminate my membership i’m thinking of giving up palying bingo because i keep loosing and im not happy
