Chain: Shipleys Bingo
Shipleys is a family-run bingo and amusements business from the West Midlands, with roots going back to the early 1960s. Its main company, Shipley & Sons (Amusements) Limited (Companies House number 00685732), was incorporated on 8 March 1961 and is registered at Bank House on Hagley Street in Halesowen, where Shipleys still has a club today. Several other Shipley companies sit alongside it, including Shipley Brothers Limited, which was set up in 1993 and took its current name in 1994, and Shipley Estates Limited, which holds the Gambling Commission licence for a number of the sites.
The group runs two kinds of venue. Its larger, dedicated bingo and slots clubs trade as Shipleys Bingo, and its website currently lists 17 of them. They are in Bristol, Bromsgrove, Croydon, Edmonton Green, Halesowen, Kidderminster (two sites, on New Road and Vicar Street), Mansfield, Middlesbrough, Redditch, Sheffield, Shepherds Bush, Solihull, Stourbridge, Swindon, West Bromwich and Worcester. The newest is in the West 12 centre at Shepherds Bush, which opened in September 2025 and, like several of the group’s clubs, is open round the clock.
You can play on traditional paper tickets with a dabber or on electronic tablets, alongside a full floor of slot machines. The clubs advertise daily jackpots ranging from £500 to £50,000, and they’re air-conditioned with free refreshments, including freshly ground coffee. There’s also an online site and an app for those who prefer to play at home.
The other half of the business is the high-street arcades, which trade as Shipley’s Amusements or Shipley’s Gaming. They’re smaller, and they offer prize bingo alongside the amusements and fruit machines. Dudley High Street is one example, and in Erdington the group has recently opened a purpose-built Bingo Lounge. So you can find Shipleys in everything from a big dedicated hall to a town-centre arcade where the bingo is one part of a wider mix.
