Chain: Hay Bingo
Hay Bingo is a small North East England chain, currently operating two clubs in Ashington and on Heaton Road in Newcastle upon Tyne. The chain is run under Hay Bingo Limited, incorporated on 7 September 2016 and registered near Durham.
The Hay name entered the bingo scene in 2017, when the Hay family took over a small number of existing clubs and rebranded them under their own name, the Ashington club, for instance, had previously traded as Gala Bingo. This pattern, of a family operator acquiring existing venues rather than building new ones, is typical of how many of the UK’s smaller regional chains have grown in recent decades.
As a modest, family-run operator, Hay Bingo occupies a similar space to other small regional chains featured on this site, offering a community-focused, lower-key alternative to the larger national brands trading in the same towns.
