Although we don’t know much about Hay Bingo Newcastle Upon Tyne, apart from its session times, we do know a bit about the venue’s past. Opened in 1912, with a mere 450 seats, the Picture palace was a very small venue. It was renamed the Westerhope Picture House in the thirties, and was again renamed the Hay Cinema in 1941. The cinema closed in 1970, and has been operating as a bingo hall ever since, previously under the brand ‘Orion Bingo’, which became ‘hay Bingo’ in 2017 after being taken over by the Hay family.
