Mecca Bingo, Chester, offers bingo players the opportunity to play bingo every day, afternoon and evening, and it regularly runs promotions to give you better value for your money.
The building first opened as a cinema called the Gaumont Palace, which opened on the 2nd March 1931. The name was shortened 5 years later to just ‘The Gaumont’. It was the only cinema in Chester to have a restaurant, which was called the Oak Restaurant. Today where the restaurant was is partially bingo tables and partially a bar called the Tudor lounge.
The cinema stopped showing films on the 9th December 1961 (with the last film being shown called The marriage-go-round) and was converted into a bowling alley and club. In 1970 it was converted into a bingo hall by Rank, which is the Mecca bingo that is still open today.
There’s seating for 1450, and 50 EBingo terminals. There are two bars, a cafe, and 300 car parking spaces. For disabled patrons there are 7 disabled seats, 1 disabled toilet, and disabled access. Please contact us if you can give us more information on this club’s background or history.
