STV Bingo Review - Site Reviews

In September 2017, STV Bingo closed to players.

The review below references when the site was part of the Virtue Fusion network and is now for information purposes only.

STV Bingo are part of (STV’s) broadcasting business in Scotland and they provide dedicated regional TV programming to over half a million viewers each week. This is not the first time a TV / media company has delved into the realms of online bingo, so you could say they are keeping up with their UK counterparts, ITV. When launched the brand used the 888/Globalcom software and you could link from the main site back to the STV page, but all that changed in 2014 when the brand switched to software by Bede Gaming who brought us Bingo Stars and Health Bingo.

The brand has kept the STV logo associated with the Scottish television company but doesn’t use the blue and white STV colours, preferring the muted blues and pastel pinks often favoured by online bingo brands. The homepage is informative with information about upcoming bingo games, available slots and links to promotions, account information and various parts of the site. If you were a member previously while the site was on the 888/Globalcom software then you may need to create a new account to continue playing.

Create an account is pretty simple, first you’ll be asked a few simple personal details and then you’ll be taken to the deposit screen. Here you can register a card and accept or reject the bonus, and then you’ll be ready to play.

The bingo plays from the main screen and during our visit we find just two standard bingo rooms, one 90-ball and one 75-ball room, which is a pretty big scale down from the 888/Globalcom software. There are also two pre-buy rooms featuring guaranteed jackpots but again these are set at hundreds rather than thousands of pounds. The bingo itself plays well, chat is to the left of the screen and independent to the site but the actual bingo game is networked to other sites such as Bingo Stars. The tickets prices are varied so there’s plenty of selection in that way but we are left a little disappointed with the lack of bingo rooms.

While the bingo is a little less than we’d hoped the side games are fantastic with realms of IGT favourites such as Cleopatra II, Davinci Diamonds and Fluffy Favourites to name but a few. There are also table games for those who like casino play, video poker, and plenty of instant win games too.

Overall the site, software and welcome package are all pretty impressive but the brand could really benefit from extra bingo rooms and just a bit more choice for players. It’s all good but we were left wanting more, and it wasn’t just in the bingo rooms. The promotions are a little weak, there are no reloads and even the guaranteed jackpots are hardly enough to keep your heart racing.
