First Impressions & Ease Of Sign up

Wowsers, arriving at the site greets you with a blaze of bright orange colour and a greeting from Z-list celebrity Kerry 'Iceland' Katona. The glaring colour and audio shouts 'come and have fun!' but I suspect the audio will become an annoyance after too long. The layout's nice and simplistic with a good clear navigation to all the important information directly from the home page.

Sign-up was quick and easy, as was funding the account. I was impressed at the amount of options made available for funding the account. As well as credit and debit cards, you can use services like Moneybookers and NetTeller.

Sign-Up Bonuses

You get a sign up bonus of 100%, so if you put a tenner in, you'll get a bonus of a tenner. This needs to be qualified to 95% - so as I've now learnt from Bingonanza, this means you have to spend 95% of your stake before you get the bonus money.

There are bonuses on all further deposits - between 25% and 125% depending on the level of member you are. You receive your bonuses in the form of Bingo Bonus which can be played in the rooms but not withdrawn - however, winning from them can be withdrawn.

Ease Of Use

The game flash application window opens up easily enough. Bingos runs on the same engine as Bingonanza (Parlay) and as such was very easy to pick up. It's more packed than the layout at Bingonanza, and a lot buttons were very small and finicky to use. That said, it only takes seconds to familiarise yourself with the layout and tools of the game.

One thing you'll quickly find is the mute button. Our Kerry screeches her way through the numbers and announcements in her thick accent - a Bingo caller she ain't! Saying that, if I choose to have her do me numbers, I'd like to hear more calls to action like 'playing for the line' etc. Like Bingonanza they are conspicuous by their absence.

You can daub the tickets yourself, or just let the auto dauber do the work for you. You'll be kept aware of the closeness of your tickets as the closer you get to a win, the colour changes. You can jump back to the main site from the Bingo interface, which is handy for checking your account details and bonuses. All in all, easy to use.

Community Spirit

The chat rooms were all buzzing, and the games host made us welcome. There were between 50 and 70 people in the chat room at the time of night, and the conversation covered all sorts of topics and showed that there were a lot of people there who were regulars and all knew each other. With so many people in the rooms, it was hard to keep up at times.

Prize Money

In the late evening there was a large number of people in the 10p ticket room, a typical game had 80+ players, and the prizes worked out £9 for the line, £19 for the two lines and £29 for the house. This worked out the best value with the 25p and 50p rooms playing for less, all be it with fewer players but more chances of winning.

Midday, midweek, the turn out was also good, much the same as the late evening before - round the clock business is a good thing. you never know when you might fancy a game.

Security

Everything's padlocked off and right - the funding process feels solid and reliable. The game window itself isn't secured, but all the important account stuff is in the right place. They don't email you your password when you sign up, so make sure you have a mental note of it.

Overall Feel At Bingos.com

Bingos has a good feel to it. The rooms are busy and the site layout simple and well thought out. I have to say, Kerry does put me off rather a lot. Not enough to stop me using the site, but it does add an element of unwelcome cheese. Personally I'd rather hear a higher quality caller or at least not see someone so bargain basement plastered all over the place.

There are a few little things that could be improved (calls to action and minimum payouts of £30 (unless you want to pay £5 for payouts between £20 and £10) don't endear me to the service, but I'm betting this is fairly common on other sites. I'd also like to see the option to withdraw via BACS. Overall rating - 7/10 (May 10th 2006)

*Note* Since this review I have had more to compare Bingos to in terms of good online experience and value for money. Their charge on smaller withdrawls continues to annoy me, especially as I've not seen it elsewhere. The terms and conditions on their £1,000,000 game also leave a lot to be desired. As a result their score has been docked a point. On the plus side, they have gotten rid of Kerry Katona. 6/10 (December 21st 2006)
