Bit of a grab bag of recent stories I've been to busy to focus on, but which I think are worthy of note. First up, the Foreign Secretary David Miliband had a stint as a bingo caller alongside the still reigning Bingo Caller Of The Year Blake Robson. The MP was invited to call to get the feel for the importance of the game to his constituents, and to get a presentation on bingo's taxation quandary. It's not the first time MPs have turned their hand as a caller, but as of yet despite the publicity, it's not done much good. Speaking of the Blake, I'm yet to hear if the Bingo Caller Of The Year will be resurrected this year, but looking at the National Bingo Game's site, it doesn't look hopeful.
I've mentioned Mecca Bingo's brand new bingo concept club, the Beeston in Nottingham elsewhere, but it's not the only new club out there. News from Somerset that Frome will soon have its own bingo hall. The Kingsway Bingo Club will hold 300 people and be the first facility in the area. Good luck to them with that.
