The Bingo Association had its AGM yesterday, and I've seen the first news story to come from it, all be it a short paragraph with little detail. You can read it over at the Times, the crux of it is that the minister responsible for gambling, Gerry Sutcliffe aims in the next couple of weeks to 'publish measures' designed to help the bingo industry. There's no real hint at what these measures could be, so watch this space.
I'll be keeping an eye out for these measures, and it'll be interesting to see if they actually tackle the VAT issue. Given Gordon Brown's recent U-Turn on the 10p income tax, you never know. That said, I wouldn't bank on tax relief, and I wonder if the measures introduced will actually be useful to the industry or merely a sticking plaster. We'll have to wait and see.
