There's been a lot of stories in the press recently of crimes related to Bingo. Brett has been doing a good job in his corner of rounding up a number of related stories, making it the focus of several of his latest posts such as this one and this one too. Brett has also written a great piece on the first of the recent thefts I featured here, and a look at the practice of cash loans to staff, the use of which led to one manager leaving an IOU of £31,000 in the club's safe.
Well, there's another one to add here, this time about a dole cheat who failed to notify the DSS about his wife's £60,000 Bingo win. The judge wasn't happy about the £50,000 of benefits that Ian Winter had claimed. With this and all the tales of theft from Bingo, it's been a funny couple of weeks, not painting a great picture for the game. That said, at least it's not been the rash of armed robberies like there were last year.
