Lost Bingo Halls And A New Bingo Hall History - Old News Archive

I had an idea to do a new section of the site towards the end of last year, and got around to actually doing it this last week. This new section is called Lost Bingo Halls, and the idea is I will over time add new pages, dedicated to those halls that have closed down or will shortly be closing down. I'm inviting people to contact me with their photographs and stories about halls that have closed, or are about to close, in the hope of making an archive of these magical places to share here.

With all the recent closures it seemed like an apt time to get the section up. I will try to add halls to the section as I spot they're closing, but so far I haven't back dated the closures from the last couple of years, choosing to initially focus on a couple of halls that closed down prior to the ban, my old hall Cardiff's Top Rank Gaiety and the Bradford Top Rank Bingo in Prince's Way Bradford.

As well as the Lost Bingo Halls section, there's more Bingo Hall related information been added to the site, as Ian Grundy has returned with his second piece. This time he's looking at the history of one particularly grand hall, the Mecca Bingo in the Southport Garrick. Once again Ian has supplied a great selection of his photography of the hall and its lavish interiors. Ian will be back with his next in depth Bingo hall history in a month or two. I'm already looking forward to it!
