News and speculation around Rank continues to grow as the Times reports on a secretive share buy out by the Malaysian group Genting. Genting already have a stake in a number of UK leisure businesses, and their 10% stake in Rank is considered to put them in a place to defend against a take over bid for the Rank Group.
The article goes on to mention a number of "predators circling" Rank, and news of Harrah's interest in the group has seen Rank's share performing well. Personally, if Rank is taken over, I'd like to see it done by a UK company with extensive knowledge and experience in the UK Bingo industry. Rank has a long history of offering a quality Bingo experience for players, and I hope they are able to continue this despite the rough times affecting the industry. It's already made attempts to diversify with its electronic Mecca Bingo halls, let's hope they have more plans up their sleeve, for the sake of its many regular players.
