It's been a while since we've carried news of criminal activity being targeted at Bingo players, but unfortunately, we have to report of a dreadful arson attack that could have very easily cost the lives of 20 elderly fans of the game. Belfast Today covered the attack which happened last Thursday at the Skipperstone Community Centre in Bangor.
It's alleged that petrol was poured through the doors of the centre and set alight. The Bingo caller on the night was praised for his quick thinking and speedy actions getting the elderly players out of the club. It's good to hear that no one was hurt in this event, but better still, two youths have been arrested in connection with it. This so easily could have been a major incident, it's shocking to think that anyone could be so cruel and vindictive as to target pensioners like this.
