News from Mecca Bingo in Fishergate, York that they're in the process of getting permission to erect a large smoking shelter at the front of the club in preparation for the ban in July. Read more...
Sigh... They're just not getting it are they? I hope they have more planned than this. Mecca are not alone in their lack of vision in the market place. It's time to forget the smokers guys. Come on Mecca, Gala, et all - you're all big enough to invest in some creative enterprise to replace the smokers. I'm still not seeing any marketing between your online and offline arms to attract new players, still nothing to attract younger people beyond advertising with B-list celebrities - it's all rather dull and uninspiring to be frank.
Not wanting to sound like a broken record here - but you have your customers to think of. None of them will thank you when their club closes because you've been to busy complaining about the unfairness of the law and trying to keep the smokers happy. Keep the smokers dry by all means, but putting up shelters is the least of your worries. Clock's a ticking.
