Entry Forms Available For 2008 NBGA Bingo Caller Of They Year Competition
It feels like the microphones have only just been put away from the 2007 NBGA Bingo Caller Of The Year competition, and already application forms are available for this year's competition. If you're a regular caller at a club that plays the National Game, then you're eligible to enter. If you haven't seen the forms at the club yet, they can be downloaded from the National Bingo Game's site.
Gala Bingo's own in house competition is already underway, and it would be nice to see the UK's leading bingo chain put a bit more effort into promoting their own competition, as well as pushing its callers to enter the national competition. Given the amount of press and TV coverage the national competition received last year, it could be some great free publicity for the company.
Get £100 Off The 3rd Annual Online Bingo Summit
Don't forget, if you haven't already booked your seat at the 3rd Annual Online Bingo Summit, then get moving as it looks like it's going to be another sold out event. The summit is being held earlier this year, on the 17th and 18th of June at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London.
Already it has a pretty full agenda with lots of great speakers. I'm planning on being there myself this year, to capture events for another report like last year's. If you'd like to book your place, the super early bird deal deadline has closed, but register before the 16th of May to get the early bird saving of £200. Also, with our special offer, you can get yourself an extra £100 off the event as well. There's more detail on the event and the promotion code here.
Record Breaking Bingo Win
The new look National Bingo Game continues to grab press coverage, this time thanks to the awarding of a record breaking £1.2million jackpot. The massive prize was won by Soraya Lowell, a cleaner from Coatbridge. On winning the prize she agreed to split it with her long time friend and bingo partner. By my reckoning, that's the third £1million prize won in the Glasgow area in the last 6 months.
Budget Let Down
After a lot of lobbying MPs and bringing the plight of the game to the attention of the press, the March 2008 Budget came as a slap in the face to the Bingo Industry. The Bingo Association were quick to respond to the Chancellor's failure to abolish the unfair double taxation of the game.
