Carlton Bingo History And Background

Like many a Bingo club, before opening it's doors to throngs of happy daubers, the premises held host to crowds of moviegoers before cinema felt a bit of a death knell in the 1970s. Carlton took over as a bingo hall in 1994, so they didn't have too much of a run before closing in 2008. Then again, this was one of the few clubs to be opened after the initial wave of closures in the 1980s and perhaps Carlton thought they'd missed the 'bingo tsunami'. Unfortunately Carlton's Murton Club, did eventually bite the dust, as another of the bingo halls caught in the continuing trend for closure, which has not been helped by further economic downturn in the past couple of years.
