Top Ten Bingo History And Background

The Top Ten in Leeds was one of many Top Ten clubs to close around this time due to the continued pressures on bingo halls across the UK. The club started out like many bingo halls as a cinema. The Pavilion Cinema was quite small, a 900+ seater which opened in 1911.

It also served as a theatre, so it had a stage and four dressing rooms to accommodate variety show performers. The theatre closed around 1966, as did many across the country in this period. After closure of the bingo hall the premises were taken over by a nightclub, and more recently an Italian restaurant.
