Star Bingo Thirsk, Market Place Background And History

We don't know much about Star Bingo other than the fact that it closed in 2005, and opened sometime between then and the sixties/seventies. Originally the Regent Cinema, it opened in 1935 with a very small capacity of 400. Originally an independent, it was taken over by Star Cinemas, who brought in bingo part-time, and latterly full-time. The conversion meant removal of much of the original interior, but what was left is no longer there to be seen, as the building was demolished in 2006.

If you have any more details that may assist us, and you would like to share them with our readers, we would love to hear from you. If you let us know what you know, we will put the details online with your name credited (if you wish, or we can credit the article as anonymous). You will be doing a service to the bingo community and posterity by helping us record details of all Britain's bingo clubs and halls. Thank you.

Bingo Caller During The Nineties

I worked at the Bingo Hall for around 6 months as a caller and checker from @January 1995 to June 1995.
