Mecca Bingo Sheffield, Penistone Road Background And History
Penistone Road Mecca Bingo will open for the last time on the 8th of April 2012. The closure has been caused due to a financial rationalisation move by the bingo giant. Apparently the club was not a commercially viable venture, and as there is another Mecca Bingo in the centre of Sheffield this is probably a case of 'business sense' (unfortunately).
Like many other club closures, the finger has been pointed at the usual suspects, taxation, the smoking ban, and online bingo, all of which add up to the 'curse', which has affected many clubs over the years, even the the main players such as Mecca.
