Embassy Bingo Seacombe, Borough Road Background And History

The Embassy sadly closed it's doors due to a lack of profit over the preceding years. It originally opened in 1899 as the Irving Theatre, becoming the King's Theatre in 1904, when it also started cinema screenings. It underwent further name changes before settling with the Embassy Theatre which became a full time cinema with no live performances. After undergoing interior refurbishment in 1938 the cinema continued until its closure in 1959 when it became a bingo hall. We are not aware of any current plans for the building.

If you have any further details that may assist us, and you would like to share them with our readers, we would love to hear from you. If you let us know what you know, we will put the details online with your name credited (if you wish, or we can credit the article as anonymous). You will be doing a service to the bingo community and posterity by helping us record details of all Britain's bingo clubs and halls. Thank you.
