Mecca Bingo Paisley, High Street Background And History

At the moment we do not have details of the events that led up to, or any of the circumstances surrounding the closure of the Mecca Bingo Paisley, but we do know a bit about about the venue's history.

The venue originally opened in 1912 as the Picture House. I later years it underwent an interior Art Deco refurbishment, and this created seating for over two thousand eight hundred patrons, making it one of Scotland's larger cinemas. It had facilities for live performances as well a cinema screenings.

In 1960 Mecca Bingo purchased the venue, and bingo continued for about twenty years. The building has sadly been demolished.
