Gala Bingo Acton, High Street Background And History
At the moment we do not have details of the events that led up to, or any of the circumstances surrounding the closure of the Gala Bingo Acton, but we do know a bit about about the venue's history.
Acton Gala was situated in the premises of the old Dominion Cinema. The Dominion opened in 1937, and was designed by renowned cinema architect Frederick E. Bromige. The building had not one but two 'fins', which contained curved glass windows. The interior was Art Deco, with 'trough lighting', and a cafe. Granada took over in 1946, and it eventually closed in 1972, after which it was converted into a bingo hall.
