Mecca Bingo Liverpool, Longmoor Lane Background And History

At the moment we do not have details of the events that led up to, or any of the circumstances surrounding the closure of the Mecca Bingo Liverpool, but we do know a bit about about the venue's history.

The venue opened as the Reo Cinema in 1933, an independent with over 1,500 seats that was very quickly taken over by ABC Cinemas (1936). Like many others cinemas built during the era, it was of Art Deco design, and it had it's own cafe.

The cinema closed in 1961, and it was a while before Mecca Bingo took over and converted it into a bingo hall. The hall closed a few years later, then reopened, to finally close in 1998. It has since been demolished to make way for housing.

You will be doing a service to the bingo community and posterity by helping us record details of all Britain's bingo clubs and halls. Thank you.
