The Granada is still there in Dovecot East Prescot Road, the former picture house built in the 1930's when I worked there it was owned by Mecca. I was the caller for a few years and then worked as the maintenance man for the building, this took me round to other Mecca halls, the Regal in Broadway, the Olympia in Liverpool, the Mayfair in Aigburth, the Pavilion Lodge Lane; all these halls have there own stories to tell, like the Olympia has Elephant pits underneath the building as it was the originally the site of a famous travelling circus, and the Pavilion with its wonderful 3 tier balcony still had a silver half moon that could be wound down from the roof to seat a singer singing in live music shows. The Granada is used as a dance school, and I think a boxing club - still its nice to see it getting used.
