Bingo Caller's Memories
I worked at The Hippodrome in the 1980s and was there when the old stage was demolished to make way for the new electronic bingo system. I called main stage and party bingo with the old blow ball system and then the electronic system. I have great memories of "running" in the isles checking the numbers, running the club in the absence of the manager, running the bar etc. Great days, sadly missed.

I worked here in the early 1970s as a runner. Mr. and Mrs. Richardson were managers at that time and the whole place was always full. In later years my mum and dad visited regularly and always had a drink in the Palm Court Bar. My mum once won £1000 which was a huge amount in those days. The name of the caller at that time has slipped my mind but he was lovely and always called my mum Virgo because of her birth date. Sad to see it go and the state of disrepair of this wonderful facility.
