Club Background And History
Carlton Whitley Bay is located literally on the sea front, with the famous beach just a skip and a jump away. For daytime visits there is plenty else to do in the area as well as braving the icy north waters, as Spanish city is a full-on entertainment centre. It's easy to get to by public transport, and there is car parking available at the front of the club.
The Club is located in what was once the Spanish City Theatre, which was part of the seaside towns amusement complex. The theatre opened in 1910, and for the time was structurally a modern building, although its design had Italian Renaissance elements to it. The theatre showed films as well as stage performances, and from 1920 had ballroom facilities. In 1961 Carlton Bingo took over and have been operating the club ever since.

Relaxed Atmosphere
Me and my husband go to the Carlton regularly. Originally my husband wouldn't go to bingo as he tried a larger bingo (Gala) and didn't like the busy, bustling and how quick the games went. So we tried the Carlton instead and the staff are always friendly and it has a lovely relaxed feeling. We would recommend this club to anyone who enjoys bingo.
