Club Background And History
Although we don't know much about Embassy Bingo Seacombe, we do know a bit about the venue's past. It originally opened as the Irving Theatre in 1899. Renamed the Kings Theatre in 1904, it started cinema showings along with stage performances. It underwent a change of name to La Scala (a popular name at the time), and also the 'Hippodrome'. In 1936 it converted to a full time cinema, and change of name to Embassy. Unfortunately the original interior decor was displaced by a complete Art Deco refurbishment, and films are no longer shown in the venue.
